There is always that one question I get asked the most by my bridal clients – that is, “What is the best hairstyle for a bride?”
I always attempt to answer it when I’ve seen my client up close during a hair trial
. It’s during a hair trial where we really get to see what would best suit you.
There are so many hairstyles for a bride, but the three I recommend most often to my clients is the braided up-do (or half up-do)
, vintage waves
. Braids have been trending in recent years with celebrities like Beyoncé
sporting them on red carpets or at award shows.
So which one is best? Well, it all depends on your personal preference (of course) and the style of your wedding dress also plays a role. If you want to stay traditional with an up-do, then braided up-dos are a perfect match for you! This classic hairstyle can be done in many ways including side or back braids that lead into a bun at the nape of the neck. You can also opt for loose pins to secure your hair in place.
The braided up-do is perfect for a bride who wants to show off her natural curls or waves in their full glory! This hairstyle can be done with either two French braid pigtails, one on each side of the head and then pulled back into an up-do. It exuberates elegance and class.
If you want more of a modern, natural look, then vintage waves are perfect for your big day. It’s a more modern take on the traditional up-do. This hairstyle is achieved by curling the hair with an iron and letting it air dry to give that beachy wave effect! You can also opt out of using any heat on this style if desired as well or add some texture spray before styling.
If you’re looking something with less volume, then chignons are your best bet – they can be done low and sleek around one ear (perfect if there’s an gorgeous as well; they’re reminiscent of old Hollywood glamour and Marilyn Monroe’s
iconic platinum blonde locks. This style can be done with a low, side or high bun and it’s perfect for those who want to keep their hair out of sight on your big day! It exudes elegance as well but in more subtle way than an up-do does so if you’re looking something less dramatic. The chignon is the perfect classic look bringing back the elegance of the 50s and 60’s. You cant go wrong with this style.
At Angela Richie Hairstyling, no matter what your chosen hairstyle is on the day, we strongly encourage all our brides to book an appointment
for a hair trial. Our hair trial sessions are a great way to get an idea of what your hair will look like on the day and also gives you time for any last minute tweaks. The hair trial session takes up to 2 hours and is a wonderful opportunity to get to know one another and get comfortable as we have a bit of fun with creativity and hairstyle options.
